Ninos Aho: Funeral Service Photos
After a bravely fought 12 year battle with cancer, Malfono Ninos Aho passed away at home on July 15, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones. On July 19th, the Assyrian nation said their farewells to Malfono’s physical body. A large congregation of friends and admirers joined the family at a moving funeral service at St. Ephraim Syriac Orthodox Cathedral in Burbank, CA. Malfono Ninos’ casket, carried by the emerging generation of Assyrian activists, was followed by the crowd as it was lead in a patriotic processional into the church.
As one of the most influential figures of the modern Assyrian Nation, Malfono’s rapid decline in health and subsequent passing was felt by Assyrians around the world. Throughout his life, Malfono Ninos Aho preached words of unity and strength and believed that even in death, he would always be among us. The shining torch of his nationalistic pride, ideology and mission will now be carried into the future by his children and all the sons and daughters of our mighty nation who he inspired to fight for the Assyrian cause. Malfono’s dream of Assyria rising in 2050 is now in our able hands.
